The historic city of Edinburgh

History of the Location

Surgeons Quarter is in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town, a bustling, quirky area full of history. We have been part of this area of town since the 1600s and have been resident in our current location since 1832. We are considered one of the oldest surgical corporations in the world.

The first building you encounter on entering our Quarter is the impressive Playfair Building which dates back to the early 1800s. On either side of the Playfair Building are the contemporary Quincentenary and Prince Philip Buildings. The map on the left illustrates the close proximity of all three spaces which can be utilised separately or in conjunction with one another.

Nestled at the back of the Quarter is the historic King Khalid Building, originally a church, this building has been sympathetically converted to provide excellent plenary and break out space while retaining its historical features.
